Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Heavy Rainfall And Damaging Winds for Southeast Coast and parts of Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts. Issued at 7:35 pm Sunday, 10 November 2024. Scattered severe thunderstorms continuing across the far southeast this evening Weather Situation A trough extends over the southeast inland of Queensland with a warm, humid and unstable airmass on its eastern side. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to continue east of this main trough developing into lines of storms in the late afternoon and evening. HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas: Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Toowoomba, Brisbane, Ipswich, Caboolture, Cleveland, Gatton and Jimboomba. A few thunderstorms are continuing over the Central Highlands and Coalfields and Maranoa and Warrego districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED. 77 mm was recorded at Rosewood in the 30 minutes to 7:18 pm. 61 mm was recorded at Spressors Bridge in the 30 minutes to 7:15 pm. 58 mm was recorded at Seven Mile Bridge in the 30 minutes to 7:21 pm. 57 mm was recorded at Lower Mount Walker in the 30 minutes to 7:17 pm. 50 mm was recorded at Churchbank in the 30 minutes to 7:12 pm. Cancellation for the following areas: Maranoa and Warrego,Central Highlands and Coalfields Emergency services advise people to: * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks. * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out. * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost. * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous. * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area. * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed. The next warning is due to be issued by 10:35 pm.
