Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland for Large Hailstones And Damaging Winds

for parts of Ipswich, Gympie, Logan, Somerset, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane City Council Areas.

LARGE HAILSTONES and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas: Ipswich, Gympie, Logan, Somerset, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane City The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:30 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones and damaging winds were detected near Moore, Linville and Greenbank. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. They are forecast to affect Jimna by 5:45 pm and Sunnybank Hills, Archerfield and Borumba Dam by 6:00 pm. Cancellation for the following areas: South Burnett,Toowoomba ,Scenic Rim,Morton Bay

Emergency services advise people to: * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks. * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out. * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost. * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous. * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area. * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts.

The next warning is due to be issued by 6:05 pm. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and emergency services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
