Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Heavy, Locally Intense Rainfall for parts of Southeast Coast Forecast District. Issued at 8:14 pm Wednesday, 3 April 2024. SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WITH INTENSE RAINFALL CONTINUE IN THE SOUTHEAST. Weather Situation Isolated thunderstorms and persistent heavy showers have developed along a trough in the far southeast of the state. Thunderstorms are slowly moving to the northeast and will likely continue into the late evening. HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas: Southeast Coast VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce heavy, locally intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Southeast Coast district. Locations which may be affected include Jimboomba. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Southeast Coast district. Locations which may be affected include Ipswich, Beaudesert, Jimboomba, Laidley, Lowood and Mount Tamborine. Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED. 81.0 mm was recorded in the 1 hour to 7:22 pm at Coulson Crossing. 70.0 mm was recorded in the 2 hours to 7:58 pm at Kalbar. Cancellation for the following areas: Darling Downs and Granite Belt Emergency services advise people to: * If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust. * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks. * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out. * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost. * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous. * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area. * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed. The next warning is due to be issued by 11:15 pm Wednesday.
