Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL For people in parts of Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts. Issued at 7:06 pm Tuesday, 24 December 2019. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Tambo, Springsure and Carnarvon National Park. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Bundaberg, Calliope and Mount Morgan. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Southeast Coast district. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich, Coolangatta, Cleveland and Jimboomba. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 10:10 pm. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
