Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland for DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE, POSSIBLY GIANT HAILSTONES For people in Moreton Bay and parts of Somerset, Redland City, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane City Council Areas. Issued at 1:09 pm Sunday, 17 November 2019. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:00 pm, very dangerous thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Caboolture and Woodford. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. Very dangerous thunderstorms are forecast to affect the area southwest of Caloundra, Mount Beerwah and Beerwah by 1:30 pm and Caloundra, waters off Caloundra and waters off Bribie Island by 2:00 pm. Damaging to destructive winds and giant hailstones are possible with this storm. Other severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near the D'Aguilar Ranges, Lake Samsonvale and Highvale. They are forecast to affect Strathpine, Sandgate and Brighton by 1:30 pm and Cleveland, Amity Point and Mud Island by 2:00 pm. Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely with this storm. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 2:10 pm. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
