Severe Thunderstorm Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES

For people in Southeast Coast and parts of Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds over the next several hours in the Southeast Coast and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gympie, Ipswich, Coolangatta, Caboolture, Cleveland, Gatton and Jimboomba. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Stanthorpe, Millmerran, Allora, Clifton and Pittsworth. 72mm in an hour at Wyaralong Dam (northwest of Beaudesert) to 5:14pm. 54mm in an hour at Biggera Ck Dam (near Southport) to 5:12pm. 51mm in an hour at Fulham (north of Esk) to 5:12pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 8:20 pm.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
