Reserve: Mt Coot-tha Reserve

AVOID SMOKE (HAZARD REDUCTION BURN) – Mt Coot-tha Reserve – fire as at 23 July 2024, weather permitting.

Warning level: ADVICE

Warning area: Mt Coot-tha Reserve between Sir Samuel Griffith Drive, the Powerful Owl and Pinnacle Trails and surrounding areas.

Brisbane City Council will be undertaking a planned burn on 23 July 2024 at Mt Coot-tha Reserve between Sir Samuel Griffith Drive, the Powerful Owl and Pinnacle Trails, weather permitting.

Council staff will be on site for the duration to ensure the safety of the area.

Council planned burns are conducted in a manner sensitive to the welfare of wildlife in the area and are conducted only in suitable weather conditions.

Expected duration:

This burn will commence at approximately 10am and continue into the early evening.

Smoke dispersal:

Smoke may impact surrounding properties and surrounding suburbs.

The burn area will continue to generate smoke even after burn operations are completed.

Management tracks in the area will be closed during the burn and may be closed for up to two weeks after the burn.

What you should do:

Stay inside and close windows and doors

Keep respiratory medication close by

Avoid driving through smoke if you can

Watch out for firefighters working in the area

Do not fly drones around the fire. Drones affect air operations.

Impacts:

Smoke can make it hard for some people to breathe

Smoke can make it hard to see when you are driving

No properties are at risk.
