Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for DANGEROUS SURF For people in parts of Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts. Issued at 8:49 pm Saturday, 23 July 2022. VERY HEAVY SURF is forecast along the exposed southern Queensland coastline south of Sandy Cape today and early Sunday morning, which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion. Significant wave heights near and exceeding 4 metres from an east to southeasterly direction are expected. A separate Hazardous Surf Warning is also current. Locations which may be affected include the Gold Coast, Coolangatta, Maroochydore, Noosa Heads, Caloundra, Rainbow Beach, K'gari (Fraser Island), Moreton Island, North Stradbroke Island, and Bribie Island. Wide Bay: Waves of around 4.5 metres from the ESE were recorded today. Mooloolaba: Waves around 4 metres from the east were recorded today. Offshore east of North Stradbroke Island: Waves around 5 metres from the east were recorded today. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Surf Life Saving Australia recommends that you stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas. * Check your property regularly for erosion or inundation by sea water, and if necessary raise goods and electrical items. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 3:00 am AEST Sunday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
