Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Winds |
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS For people in parts of Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts. Issued at 3:43 pm Thursday, 21 July 2022. DAMAGING WINDS averaging around 55-65km/h, with peak gusts of around 90km/h possible, may develop about K'gari (Fraser Island) and Stradbroke and Moreton Islands, and the exposed parts of the Sunshine Coast north of Coolum from early Friday morning. Winds are expected to gradually ease during Saturday morning as the low moves southeast away from the coast. A Severe Weather Warning for Dangerous Surf, and a Hazardous Surf Warning are also current. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEST Thursday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
