Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS

For people in Southeast Coast and parts of Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.

Issued at 10:59 am Monday, 30 May 2022.

DAMAGING WINDS with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible over the southeastern interior, primarily on and east of elevated terrain (particularly the Main Range and Scenic Rim) from this evening, extending across the southeast overnight and during Tuesday. DAMAGING WINDS with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h may reach the Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast areas during Tuesday morning, particularly on and east of elevated terrain. Saturated soils in southeastern Queensland are bringing an increased risk of gusty winds toppling trees and powerlines. Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Stanthorpe, Caboolture, Coolangatta and Ipswich.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST Monday.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
