Severe Weather Warning for Heavy Rainfall and Damaging Winds |
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS For people in parts of Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts. Issued at 10:00 pm Sunday, 27 February 2022. HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to flash flooding is forecast to continue over parts of southeast Queensland overnight. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 60 and 120 mm are likely to continue with this system. Locally INTENSE RAINFALL leading to dangerous and LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING with thunderstorms remains a possibility with this system. Six-hourly rainfall totals in excess of 120 mm are possible. A separate Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued if very dangerous thunderstorms with intense rainfall are detected. Rainfall will initially be concentrated over southern suburbs of Brisbane, gradually clearing from the north and pushing further south towards the NSW border during the early hours of Monday morning. Heavy to intense falls are not expected to fully clear from border areas until around sunrise on Monday morning. Heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads. DAMAGING TO LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WIND GUSTS in excess of 90 km/h are possible, mainly about coastal fringes. A Flood Watch and multiple Flood Warnings are current for parts of Southeast Queensland. Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Wide Bay and Burnett district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
