Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL

For people in Southeast Coast and parts of Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in the Southeast Coast and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Kingaroy, Coolangatta and Ipswich. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields district. Locations which may be affected include Bogantungan. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett district. Locations which may be affected include Gayndah and Mundubbera. Bromelton Dam has recorded 61mm in 1hr to 1:55pm. Beaudesert recorded 67mm in 1hr to 2pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5:25 pm.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
