Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL

For people in parts of Gulf Country, North West and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts.

Issued at 12:45 pm Thursday, 21 October 2021.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country and North West districts. Locations which may be affected include Riversleigh Station and Lawn Hill. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Southeast Coast district. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Brisbane, Coolangatta, Caboolture, Cleveland and Jimboomba.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 3:45 pm.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
