Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland for DAMAGING WINDS For people in Ipswich, Logan, Brisbane City and parts of Somerset, Scenic Rim, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Gold Coast, Redland City and Moreton Bay Council Areas. Issued at 12:14 am Tuesday, 11 May 2021. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:00 am, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Murphy's Creek, Helidon and Hampton. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Laidley, Gatton, Esk, the area southwest of Esk, the area west of Esk and the area northwest of Esk by 12:30 am and Brisbane CBD, Ipswich, Beenleigh, Logan City, Cleveland, Strathpine and Redcliffe by 1:00 am. Damaging winds are likely. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 1:15 am. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
