Severe Weather Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL

For people in Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast and parts of Central West and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Districts: HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely about the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts today and overnight into early Wednesday morning. The situation is likely to pose a SERIOUS RISK to areas recently affected by heavy rainfall, including the risk of landslips in steep terrain; in these areas the situation may become LIFE-THREATENING. 6-hourly rainfall totals of 100-150 mm are likely, and locally heavier falls are possible with thunderstorms. Maranoa and Warrego District: HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely over the Maranoa and Warrego today. 6-hourly rainfall totals of 50-70 mm are likely, and locally heavier falls are possible with thunderstorms. A separate Flood Watch is current for southern parts of Queensland from the South Australian border to the Southeast Coast. Locations which may be affected include Brisbane, Ipswich, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Warwick, Stanthorpe, Kingaroy, Dalby, Goondiwindi, Roma, Charleville and St George. Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Channel Country district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEST Tuesday.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
