Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland for DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL For people in parts of Southern Downs, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay Council Areas. Issued at 2:18 pm Monday, 7 December 2020. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:00 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Bribie Island, waters off Bribie Island and Beachmere. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Deception Bay waters, northern Moreton Island and Comboyuro Point by 2:30 pm and southern Moreton Island by 3:00 pm. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:00 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar in the area between Inglewood and Warwick. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Stanthorpe and Applethorpe by 3:00 pm. Damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 3:20 pm. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
